How To Style A Summer Maxi Dress In Autumn. Hello friends, Happy Friday.
So today I am sharing some beautiful photos of flowers and this bright pink maxi dress that I wore on a cool summer's day.
I love this maxi dress and it makes a great autumn dress too with a nice fitted black jumper underneath. Don't you think?

Take your favourite maxi and pop a fitted jumper of your choice underneath or over depending on how it looks. Team up with chunky shoes, trainers, or ankle boots, and ta-da!!
A warm and beautiful new outfit! How sweet is Mr. Bumblebee!!
But first, some Friday Flowers combined with Friday Feet!!
Black Converse, also so comfortable!!
As the warm days of summer give way to the cool, crisp air of autumn, it might seem like it's time to pack away your summer wardrobe.
Not that I want to in any way or form, but nature must take its course.
I do love autumn though. Also, as it is the lead-up to Halloween!!
How To Style A Summer Maxi Dress In Autumn:
However, with a bit of creativity, you can easily transition your favourite summer pieces—like the beloved maxi dress—into autumn staples.
Don't you think?
Let's stop for a minute though, and look at these wonderful flowers.
So pretty!!
I like pink! Pink!!
Do you too?
Stunning pink flowers.
How To Style A Summer Maxi Dress In Autumn:
One of the easiest ways to layer a summer dress is with a cosy sweater or cardigan. Think chunky Knit Sweater.
One of the easiest ways to make a summer maxi dress work for autumn is by layering it with a chunky knit sweater.
You could opt for an oversized sweater that can be cinched at the waist with a belt to give shape and definition. This combination adds warmth and a laid-back vibe to your outfit.
As mine was going under the dress, I opted for a tight-fitting one.
Add a Belt for Shape Layering can sometimes cause your silhouette to lose shape. As you can see, I added a nice fitted wide belt.
To combat this, add a belt at the waist over your dress or outerwear. A wide leather belt can add structure and define your waist, making your layered outfit look polished.
I love adding this belt to my outfits.
Add sunglasses, yes I forgot mine but wish I had them!!
Any Fun Prints Will Work:
Autumnal Prints Work Great. If your maxi dress has a summer-inspired print, like florals or tropical patterns, you can still make it work for autumn.
Pair it with solid, darker-coloured layers to balance out the summery vibe. Add a colour from with-in the dress, like I did here.
Alternatively, choose maxi dresses with more autumnal prints like plaid, houndstooth, or muted florals, which naturally lend themselves to fall styling.
How amazing would a flowered dress be right now!!
I am thinking bright red, do you see where I get my inspiration?
Or how cool would my Mr. Bee top be right now!!
Think Green!!
Think Green. A lovely shade of green!!
While summer is all about bright and bold colours, autumn calls for a more subdued and rich colour palette. Go green.
Consider styling your maxi dress with accessories or outerwear in shades of burgundy, navy, olive, or mustard.
If your dress is in a lighter or pastel shade, these colours can help tone it down and make it more seasonally appropriate.
Or just go for your favourite summer green dress, if you have one?
A scarf is an effortless way to add texture and warmth to your outfit. Choose a thick, cosy scarf in autumnal colours like burnt orange, mustard yellow, or deep burgundy.
Whether you drape it loosely over your shoulders or wrap it snugly around your neck, a scarf is both practical and stylish.
What is not to love about a mustard scarf in autumn?
If You Like It Then Put A Jacket On It:
For a more edgy and modern look, throw on a leather jacket.
Don't you just love a leather or faux leather jacket in autumn? I know I do.
The contrast between the flowy, feminine maxi dress and the tough, structured leather creates a perfect blend of softness and strength.
This combo works especially well with floral or pastel dresses, as the leather adds a fall-appropriate twist.
This flower makes me think of fluffy cardigans!!
Not a fan of the leather-y look? Add a denim one!!
A classic denim jacket is another versatile option. It's light enough to layer but provides just enough warmth for those cooler days.
Perfect for just a grab-and-run jacket. For an added autumn touch, choose a jacket in a darker wash or with distressed details.
So cool!!

Remember, if your maxi dress has a slit or is made from a lighter fabric, consider adding tights or leggings underneath.

This not only keeps you warm but also adds an extra layer of texture and fun.
Choose opaque tights in dark colours, for a safe look, or go for patterned tights and bright colours for a more playful look.
